$3000 bounty for luring foreign GPs to Australia

THE Australian Medical Association is offering a $3000 reward for anyone who can lure a foreign GP to work in Australia.

The national campaign was launched this morning in a bid to improve the chronic doctor shortage across the country.

Nationally, the AMA says it wants to find an extra 500 doctors for Australia.

WA is about 400 GPs short.

AMA state president Gary Geelhoed said WA had the worst doctor-to-patient ratio in Australia.

WA also relies on overseas doctors more than any other state.

In particular it wants to lure doctors to work in rural areas.

For the nominee to get the $3000, the nominated doctor must meet all the training requirements and agree to practise in Australia for at least 12 months.

Dat vind ik nou zo frustrerend.... Heb het hier met zowel mijn huisarts als mijn tandarts over gehad. Zouden beiden wel willen, maar hebben kinderen die op een leeftijd zijn dat je ze niet meer onder je arm mee kan nemen en blijven daarom in Nederland.....

Denk ook dat daar het probleem zit. Voordat je eindelijk officieel huisarts bent, heb je al zo'n leven opgebouwd, dat het daardoor bijna onmogelijk wordt om te emigreren als je kijkt naar je gezin en je studieschuld/hypotheek op je praktijk.

Als ik eraan begonnen was toen we de knoop doorhakte, dan zitten we ook eind 2012 als ik zou afstuderen...... :evil:

Ja allemaal leuk en aardig hoor zo'n actie, maar ik heb geen zin om dannog eens 3 jaar of meer op die bounty te gaan zitten wachten. Weet je wel hoe lang het duurt voordat zo'n arts hier eindelijk door al z'n toelatingsexamens is? Ze kunnen het leuk brengen!
