Dutch/Flemish heritage & children?
If you would like your children to grow up bilingual with your heritage language Dutch please join DUTCH KIDS NETWORK
Description
DUTCH KIDS NETWORK meets 2nd Sunday of each month
at a different playground in Adelaide and surrounding suburbs.
• The children can play while the parents have a chat in Dutch.
• The children experience that it is absolutely normal
to grow up bilingual, speaking both Dutch and English.
• The children find out that there are many other families
in Adelaide who know about ‘sinterklaas’, ‘hagelslag’ or ‘K3’.
• Parents can exchange their ideas on raising their children
bilingual and on how to put it into practise
– especially if they want their kids to learn
to read and write in Dutch as well.
DUTCH KIDS NETWORK has no age limit for the children.
Everyone is welcome: expecting mothers,
parents with toddlers, kindy-aged or primary-aged kids,
teenagers or young adults!
DUTCH KIDS NETWORK is still very young (found. mid 2011),
but there is an increasing interest. The aim is to eventually have a fixed place where we meet on a regular basis.
Who knows, maybe some parents end up starting
an informal “Dutch Saturday School” for those children
who also want to learn how to read and write Dutch.
Future DUTCH KIDS NETWORK meetings will also be announced
in the event calender on www.dutchsa.com.au an at www.facebook.com/DutchKidsNetwork.
Let us know if you want to come or need more information.
