Hi.
Just a quick one to let you know about schools in Brisbane.
There is an area where both the state and private schools are very highly regarded. The suburbs in this catchment area are St Lucia, Indooroopilly, Taringa, Toowong, Chelmer, Graceville & Sherwood. These are quite high socioeconomic areas and surround Queensland University so there is a strong cultural and intellectual element. Two pmarin private schools are co-educational St peters Lutheran College and St Aidans Anglican Girls' School.. Both these schools go from reschool to senior. St Aidan's is a smallish school with a more conservative school population, while St Peters is a very large school with very much a more multicultural focus. The state primary schools in these areas that ae highly regarded are Ironside and Indooroopilly but others in the suburbs mentioned are also well respected.
High school seems a way off but the best state high schools would probably be Kenmore and Kelvin Grove if that is a consideration.
Forst Lake is a relatively new suburb and has a wider multicultural and socioeconomic cross section. This suburb has a state primary and high school which seem to be developing in a very positive direction. Forest Lake also has a Christian College that runs from pre-primary to senior, which has a very good reputation.
Of course this is a very limited view of education in a large and flourishing city so in the end much comes down to personal priorities and preferences.
If you access the Education Queensland website (www.education.qld.edu.au <http://www.education.qld.edu.au/>) this has links to all private and state schools in Queensland so you can get a more detailed insight to assist in your decision. By the way your decision to go to Brisbane is a very good one because the city is developing in a very positive way (education, infrastructure, culture). It's really going to be a hotspot.
Regards,
