Important warning about websites posing as Australian Government

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has received many complaints about the websites of private companies offering Australian visa services. Some people have paid money to these websites for immigration help but have received nothing in return.

The official Australian Government website about immigration matters is www.immi.gov.au. You will find information there about visiting, working, studying or living in Australia.

If you have given money by credit card through a website for immigration services you did not receive, you may wish to contact your credit card provider and lodge a 'disputed payment' grievance with them.

Please be aware that you do not need to use a migration agent to apply for a visa. If you do wish to use a migration agent to help you apply for a visa, make sure you understand what you can expect from them and what your options are if the agent acts incompetently, dishonestly or fraudulently.
