Feedback spotswood:
Please be advised that our collection hours have now changed. We now collect animals that arrive on flights arriving between 6.00am and 6.00pm.

You will need to find alternative flights. If you decide to still send your cat with Malaysian Airlines, your cat will need to do a comfort stop in Malaysia (which is now approved by the Australian Government – see attachment). That way it can arrive on a flight that lands within our collection hours.

Dear Stakeholder,

Re: Transhipment of cats and dogs being imported to Australia via Malaysia

The conditions of all Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) import permits for cats and dogs require that the animal is sealed into its transport container/crate by an Official Government Veterinarian prior to departure from the exporting country, and that seal number must be recorded on the animal’s import permit.

If the container is opened during travel it must be resealed and a certificate must be provided by an Official Government Veterinarian or Captain of the aircraft detailing the circumstances.

The circumstances under which DAFF accepts seals being broken are in the event of an emergency; to enable the animal to be removed so the crate can be cleaned; or for the purpose of overnight accommodation in a DAFF approved quarantine facility during transhipment.

DAFF will now allow the transhipment of cats and dogs at the MASKargo Animal Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This arrangement has been approved to meet the operational requirements of DAFF’s animal quarantine stations, current flight schedules, and welfare requirements for travelling animals.

Cats and dogs transhipping in Kuala Lumpur must meet DAFF and the Malaysian Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) requirements, as follows:

· Cats and dogs must be held at MASKargo Animal Hotel during transit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
· The importer/exporter or their agent must contact the Malaysian DVS to arrange for an Official Government Veterinarian to break the seals on the animal’s transport crate, reseal the crate, and provide a transit permit and/or certification of the circumstances under which the seals were broken/resealed. This must be done through an official application to:
