Girl killed by dingo-cross
A toddler has died after being mauled by the family dog - a dingo-labrador cross - at Bunyip in eastern Victoria.
The 22-month-old girl was attacked by the dog about 2:30am AEDT and taken to Dandenong Hospital in a critical condition. She died several hours later.
The dog has been put down.
RSPCA animal shelter manager Andrew Foran has expressed concerns about people keeping dingoes as pets after the mauling.
"There are a significant number of cross-breeds out there and dingoes certainly aren't an exception," he said.
"But I'd be concerned if people have got dingoes in a family environment - they're not an ideal family pet."
