My question for today is to gather some information from the dutchies already living in Oz, I would really like to know how you have experienced the first month after arriving in Oz, what can we (the people still in Holland) expect when we arrive in Oz, not just at the airport but also in the first month? :? ?

Really looking forward to your replies  :-D

Sorry, just going to copy it from the other thread...lazy, lazy, lazy... :)

Indeed a nice question

But in my case ...  It is 10 years ago.........and the first month....can't remember a thing . Everything went so quick, it was one big blur. Organising bits & pieces, living arrangements, buying a reliable ( ) car, etc. etc.

Let's just say hip-hip-hooray for the "automatic pilot" that kicked in on arrival!!

Bye
Syl

p.s. I am pretty certain that you will get a more constructive answer to your question!

Right on.. Syl... we are that kind of pleople  :-D

As long as we get some more info about this it would be great....  ( all is permited in love and xpdite..... :rotflmao: )

To say it in a few words: very busy !

Find a home to live in, a rented one or one to buy; buy a car, new or used; activate your health-insurance, private or Medicare; apply for a Tax File Number; apply for your drivers licence; open up or activate your bankaccount; make a new start to normal life: find your shopping centre for the daily stuff; try to make contact with your neighbours and so on, and so on.......

Don't forget to try to enjoy yourself !!

Thanks Silver for your comment, but besides being bussy (like we are now) how did you feel, was it hard or not as hard as you anticipated when you were still in the Netherlands?

How did you experience it?

Koen, allrighty off my lazy chair...... :)

I had a bit of a think, you know...it was a bit like a rollercoaster-ride. Full steam ahead, no time to think about Holland (or not a lot) and it felt like one long holiday for months!!!! Even with all the stress & uncertainty that comes with migrating to another country somewhere "far, far away". :)  Everything was exciting even grocery shopping & hanging up the washing.  But that novelty wears off pretty quickly..... :)

Bye for now
Syl :)
