Fifteen people have been arrested in Australia in what police describe as an anti-terrorism operation.
New South Wales' police commissioner said police may have disrupted "the final stages of a terrorist attack or the launch of a terrorist attack".
He said six people had been arrested in Sydney in the early hours of Tuesday morning, while ABC radio said another nine were arrested in Melbourne.
Just two days ago the government gave police greater anti-terrorist powers.
