Hallo allemaal,

Mijn nederlands is heeeeelll slecht zo ik ga mijn vraag in engels stellen...sorry! :|

We're waiting for our final answer for emigration within a month or two. We want to move everything in our house in a container by boat. I'd like to know if we can use all of our electric things in Australia without problems.

I know that in the netherlands the mains run on 220-230volts at 50 hertz and australia at 230-240 volts at 50 hertz. Will the 10 extra volts be a problem for all our things? (tv, vcr, stereo system, fitness aparatuur, gereedschap ect...)

Thanks,
Philippe

Succes

Phillip,

To give you a short answer: no, that won't be a problem. I have used my laptop in Oz without any problem. Today's equipment do have a tiny device that takes care of those minimal differences. But you have to be aware that they use a different plug in Oz. So you can take some world-connectors with or you can cut all the wires and attach an Oz. plug, but from hear saying that can be difficult in some occasions.

Markus,
I already did a working holiday in australia I was aware of this but thank you anyway. Laptops usually have a power supply that works between 110volts to 240volts so you can usually use them anywhere in the world, for tv's vcr's and others its a bit more complicated.

Actually all electric and electronic devices are made for 220-240 V AC Current.
There is a wide marging in the voltage, because they will probably also run on 200-220 V which sometime occurs if you live very remotelly. So no worries about the voltage!
