Oh my god: dit is geen sport maar codetaal. Ik snap er werkelijk niets van (extract uit live verslag):

🤣. Het betekent dat Maxwell een wereldrecord heeft geslagen. En dat Nederland blij mag zijn als we de helft halen in onze return inning 😁. Nee, ik blijf er wel voor op, maar Australia is een paar maatjes te groot voor NL om een kans te hebben.

Sinds 1881 :).

ETA, als men het nationale cricketteam na 150 jaar nog niet kent, we can't be very good, can we 😂? De waarheid is dat we het pas de laatste decades serieus zijn gaan nemen omdat het team ging kwalificeren voor internationale wedstrijden in de wereldtop. We play in the big league, but we still end up last every time ;).

Het gekke is, dat heb je hier in Melbourne ook. In mijn jaar van aankomst (2017): 46 C 😁. Daarna kwam La Nina en was het 6 jaar onevenwichtige prut op een rij. Nu is El Nino weer terug en de verwachting is keinat en bloedheet in de eerste maanden van 2024. Maar in Melbourne heb je sowieso 4 seasons in a day, de afternoon change om 16:00 uur waarin de temp meer dan 25 C omlaag gaat binnen 10 minuten is ook wel een begrip.

Mr Emulate heeft wel oren naar Whyalla en benoorden Adelaide (ook vanwege de alleszins redelijke huizenprijzen vergeleken bij CBD Melbourne). Maar Dochter Mr Emulate heeft een ban aangekondigd als we zo ver van haar gaan verhuizen ...
