ANOTHER major power blackout in Sydney shut down Australian Fashion Week, city offices and traffic lights this morning.
The power was out from around 10.35am until 11.15am.
News.com.au photographers working at Fashion Week headquarters at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in The Rocks said the blackout interrupted the Zimmerman parade and all guests were evacuated.
Fashion Week has since recommenced.
Office workers were stuck in elevators and there was traffic chaos as lights were blacked out, police said.
The area affected was reported to extend from Market Street in the CBD north to The Rocks.
Energy Australia is investigating the problem.
It is believed that the northern end of the CBD was the area worst affected.
"We’ve got a bit of an outage in part of the CBD … we’re still investigating,” an Energy Australia spokeswoman said.
A different Energy Australia spokeswoman said the outage affected 30,000 customers.
"It could be like the first (recent CBD blackout) … all four cables from Lane Cove into the city have (stopped delivering power)," the spokeswoman said.
"We're still investigating."
Architect Trent Middleton who works in the Rocks said the power outage had completely disrupted his office.
“We’ve got a design submission due at 2pm today. Luckily we’ve managed to save it to the server before that went down, but we have no access to printers.”
This is the third blackout to hit Sydney in recent weeks.
The first, on March 30, caused peak hour chaos late in the afternoon with traffic lights in the city-centre going out and power cut to 70,000 homes.
On April 12, another blackout hit about 3,000 homes and businesses.
