Three-legged saltie kept lookout for tasty fishos

THIS three-legged mountain of monster had been keeping fishos on full alert by lurking around a Territory boat ramp, looking for easy pickings.
And the 5m saltie caused a sensation with tourists and locals alike when he rolled into town recently - a threat no longer, but still able to draw a breathless crowd.
Borroloola's TJs One Stop co-owner Tegan Sauer, 22, said the saltie was the biggest one she'd seen for a while.

"I would reckon he'd have been 5m to 5.5m," she said. "He was pretty huge - he was curled around the trailer.
"And that was a car trailer - not just a standard box trailer."
Ms Sauer said the saltie had been hanging around at the boat ramp.
"(Parks and Wildlife) set a trap but he wouldn't go in it," she said.
"He was too big. They had to harpoon him."

The saltie was finally brought to heel about a month ago.
Aside from keeping tourists agog at the servo, the old fella was whizzed past the local school for the kids to have a gander.
Lots of curious locals also rushed to the school.
