We are pleased to announce that the consular team of the Netherlands Consulate-General in Sydney will be visiting Hobart on the 5th and 6th of May 2026.

Appointments are now open.

To make an appointment, please follow the steps below:

• Send an email to syd-appointment@minbuza.nl
• Put “Pop-up Hobart” in the subject line
• Include the number of appointments required, as well as the names and contact details of all applicants
• You will receive a confirmation email with further details about your appointment.

If all appointments are fully booked, your name will be placed on a waiting list in the event of cancellations.

We are planning to visit Cairns in the second week of August 2026, permitting there will be sufficient demand.

Please send an e-mail to syd-appointment@minbuza.nl if you are interested in an appointment in Cairns, including the following information:

* Full name of all individual applicants
* Date of birth of the applicant(s)
* The passport expiry date of your current Dutch passport (if applicable)
* Your mobile number
* Your email address

We can then contact you in due time to schedule an appointment once the pop-up passport desk will take place.

Waarschijnlijk omdat Noord-Holland ook iets is….?
Iig NL weet Cairns wel te bereiken. Het dichtste dat de Belgische Ambassade komt is Brisbane. Dat is verder weg dan België breed is.

Als ze dat debat nog een paar keer uitstellen hebben 'we/ze' weer eerder nieuwe verkiezingen :eek:

Enquete over VFS Global

Dit bedrijf wordt door veel landen ingehuurd (waaronder Nederland) om o.a. paspoortverlenging te regelen op plekken waar geen eigen diplomatieke post bestaat. En ook hier is het vaak heel druk. Geruchten over onderhandse verkoop van afspraken, en het plots moeten bijbetalen voor allerlei soorten diensten die niet goed zijn geadverteerd – een soort Ryanair-isering van de paspoortenhandel – waren ons al eerder ter ore gekomen.

Die geruchten zijn we inmiddels voorbij: een recent artikel van Politico.eu (“How a company visas to Europe turned into big business”), is tot stand gekomen op basis van een jaar lang journalistiek onderzoek. Dit artikel stond ook al in de laatste nieuwsbrief. Lees en huiver zelf.

Dit is onacceptabel. Tegelijkertijd hebben we nog niet scherp genoeg hoeveel Nederlanders getroffen zijn, noch waar of wanneer. Vandaar dat de SNBN-enquêtecommissie deze enquête heeft opgesteld, met het vriendelijke en dringende verzoek aan iedereen, die ervaringen heeft met VFS Global om de enquête in te vullen (link).
