Sponser vrs Family Member Assurance of Support

Hi,
I am an Australian married to a nederlander jongen!
We are applying for a spouse visa.
As I have worked on and off in NL for the past five years I am wondering if I can still sponsor my husband to Australia?
I have worked for the past year, but the year before that not and the year before that 6 months... you get the picture...
I have filled in the form for sponsorship for partner (form 40SP).
I have seen in the sponsorship obligations that you can include 'support from family with a appropriate evidence'; does this mean this is where you would have your family would show that they can give financial support?
Or should I be filling in form 40SP and also asking my family to fill in form 40?
Or is there somewhere else where I can find a form for 'assurance of support'.

Would really appreciate some advice with this! Would really fantastic to have some clarity.  I have read lots of your emails it is seems quiet easy if you have the right documents etc to go to berlin and get the visa immediately...

another question:
If you are married (we have been together for 2 years and then married for 2 and half years) is it still better and quicker to go to berlin in person?

and when is the best time to ring berlin... apparently it is difficult to get thru on the humber?

thanks so much for any help anyone can offer....

Sarah
PS: if you find it easier to write dutch i can understand most it!

Hi Sarah,

You should have no trouble sponsoring your husband.  My husband sponsored me - he lived and worked in The Netherlands for 8 years.  He didn't have a job to go back to in Australia or a house, but we did state that we had a house in The Netherlands.  We didn't go to Berlin but they did ring us and spoke to me for about 5 minutes (it was a very pleasant conversation).  We have been married for 20 years (+ 2 kids) but we still needed to get 2 letters from Australian friends which stated that we had a loving relationship!!  This is just a rule - it doesn't matter how long you have been married.

All in all it took us about 12-14 weeks to receive the spouse visa.

Good luck with it all!

Iam Dutch and married to an Australian for just over 10 years. We applied for a Spouse visum as well and got a permanent one cause were married longer then 5 years. your husband probably gets one for 2 years first. I was worried to about the sponsor form cause Gary has been in the ww here for a while and then started his own company but didnt have much work. All we brought was the KCK uittreksel and that was enough. We also have our own house here so that might have made a difference money-wise...dont know but it all went real easy.

When we had all papers ready I rang Berlin to make an appointment. They told us on the phone before what we had to bring (what forms and evidence). We already had 2 evidence forms from Australia but we didnt even need them...i brought them anyway but...wasnt necessary.

Good luck with it all.

Same story here: I (Dutch) am with an Aussie girl. We applied for a spouse visa while we both lived in the Netherlands for two years. She didn't have a (proper) job there and she hasn't one here in Aussie...now she is sponsoring me in Australia, so you won't have any troubles with the application on that point.

...now waita minute!!!! I was working in the Netherlands and I am working in Australia ..... I am sponsoring HER!! whahahahaha
