It has been a while since we last updated our laatste stand van zaken, but I suppose that is life.

Last time we posted something was when we just got married. A lot has happened since then.
After being here for 12 months we are back at the same stage as when we first arrived. We are both with out a job and both looking and applying our buts of. :?

The only difference now is that we are married and thank god that is still all going well. At this moment we have and are doing some courses so that we might be able to go and work in the mines. We have met a few people who are working there at the moment and it seems like we have a reasonable chance of getting in.
I have gotten my Heavy Ridgid license and am now getting my bobcat ticket. Together with my forklift license it should not be a problem. Once we get in we will hopefully work there for a year or 2 and then we will be able to buy a couple of houses and start the family that we always wanted.

The dogs are doing fine and thanks to a couple of friends from this forum we keep being posted on all the news from different sites of the country.

I have to say even though our fortune hasn't been as much as other people, we are still very happy here in Oz and it has been the best choice I ever made. It is true what they say about immigrating.... the first bit is the hardest, but it pays off in the end.

Greetz,

K&K

I really hope everything will work out fine for the both of you and that you get that job at the mines!

Hi Koen and katrina

Nice to here from you again. Sad to here your are both without jobs. But just keep your hopes up and everything will be fine eventually.
I'm a bit surprised to read that you both got married.   Maybe a bit late but never the less congrats  to the both of you.
Good luck with your studies and finding a career in the mining boom business. Should not be hard I think. They always need lots of people willing to do the hard and dirty work  :p Aaa well as long as it pays well so you guys can buy a nice house. or at least a couple

Best wishes,
Barry and Vanessa

Hallo Xp-diters,

It has been far to long since we have been updating our lsvz!
So much has happened, but the most important are the 2 new developments here in our lives.

First of all I have finally received my permanent residency!!!!! The paperwork was signed and delivered on the 19th of December, and I would have expected that it would only take about a month since nothing much had changed in our circumstances accept the fact that we got married.

So at the end of January I called my case officer to see how it all was going, the immigration department told me, sorry your case officer doesn't work here anymore and you are now in the pool for to be assigned to a new case officer, but don't worry it will take 90 days from the day that you should have submitted your application (6th of January 2008), so don't get your hopes up before the 6th of April!!!!!

Thank god I have a mother in law who knows how to sweet talk immigration so she gave them a call last week and voila on the 19th of March I was granted my permanent residency which I was able to pick up today....

The second event is pretty funny since I have replied to Lin not long ago stating that AUstralie must have very fertile ground since Lin is pregnant and also Helen in the ACT and now we can add our name to this list because Katrina is now pregnant as well.

Because of this sudden change we are now forced to abandon the plan of going on a holiday to Holland in May/June and buy a house, which we are now in the process of doing.

Mmmm, I guess I finally had something to tell you guys

Anyway we'll keep y'all posted over the next couple of months.

Koen & Katrina

WEL DONE

Gefeliciteerd hoor
En wanneer mogen we die kleine verwachten?

Take care.

Mariette
