Hey, where talking again.
Is that: Hey we're talking again? Or: Hey, where are you talking? :-D
what a stupid mistake. Of course it was hey, we're talking again (and I know it).

Hello!

I don´t know exactly where I am, but I believe there´s someone here who could help me.
I translate novels by Terry Pratchett and would like to know the meaning of some words.

Like "paira" in the sentence "Ye paira dafties!"

Thank you....

Hi Milahashi,

I'm Dutch but I live in New Zealand with my family. We've lived here now for about two and a half years and we wouldn't want to go back to Holland. We're in doubt whether to stay in NZ or go to Aussie again though. That's why I keep cruisin' this forum to see what will be best for our family.

Anyway can't help you with your translation, sorry. Good luck with that!

Cheers,
Danny-Eva

I strongly think that "paira" is the phonetic sound of "pair of". And a daft is a moron, or a fuckwith :-D

So you could translate it to: "you couple of morons"

Hello, Danny-Eva and Bart!
Thanks for answering my post.

Danny-Eva, is Aussie the short form for Australia?
I hope you and your family can find a nice place to live.

Bart, your answer will be very helpful!

See ya.

And a daft is a moron, or a fuckwith
Strong choice of words there Bartman.... :-D :-D Or to put it slightly milder (as you can use Daft in many different situations):  Daft = stupid, not very smart, silly.

Good luck with the translation Milahashi!
Syl

Thanx, Syl. I felt the same about dafties.
Where are you from?
What kind of forum is this? I ask because I cannot place exactly the language I´ve seen in most topics.

All the best!

I think most of the talk is in Dutch. That's the language they speak in Holland.
It's somewhere in Europe. You ever heard of Amsterdam ?
:)

But this topic is created for everyone...

Hey guys,

Almost time for me to go to Perth (4 weeks exactly). Funny thing that happend last week.

My religion was looking for translators, so I wrote an email back to them. 10 people responded, so all of us got a big story to translate in a week and then they would have a look who did the best job, because it isn't just about translating it but also to translate it in a nice religious way.... humz....
Got it done pretty quickly (with a little help from interglot and vertalen.nu).
Spoke to my boyfriend and asked him to have a quick look at it. He got a red face and said...'well, me and my mother are asked to check the 10 stories'.... oops...
I couldn't hold my laugh.... What a bummer!!!

Still haven't heard anything from them about who got the 'job'.

Ivette

have a go at these...

Which witch wished which wicked wish?
Six sick hicks nick six slick bricks with picks and sticks
He thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Hè Linda, ga ergens ander mensen pesten! :-D

This is of course should read; Hey Linda, go and be a pain somewhere else! :-D

and knows a little about horses.

Some logic;
(1) Horses have an even number of legs.
(2) They have two legs in back and fore legs in front.
(3) This makes a total of six legs, which certainly is an odd number of legs for a horse.
(4) But the only number that is both odd and even is infinity.
(5) Therefore, horses must have an infinite number of legs.

Bart

Don't remember where I got it from, but it's fun.

Was dat nou niet net the pun waar we overheen moeten lezen, want je hóórt het verschil niet.

Ireen :)

Which should be: Shouldn't that be the pun we should not read, because you don't hear the difference.

Still, you can read the difference. Looks a bit silly when you pen this down in an application letter....
